There will be a $24.95 fee payable online to the company that provides the online course.  Neither we nor MDWFP charge fees for participating in in-class courses and we do not conduct the online courses – those are conducted by private companies.  If you are under the age of 16, once you complete the online class, you will need to contact a certified Mississippi Hunter Education Instructor or search for a scheduled course and complete the tree stand safety and firearms safety portions of the course and take the test.  Many in-class courses allow online students to come towards days’ end to complete the requirements.  MDWFP schedules times in each district for online students to complete their courses.

In-person courses are 10-hours in length.  They may include lecture by an instructor or guests who have special expertise in hunting and the outdoors, videos, displays, and other teaching tools.  There is no shooting involved in hunter education classes.  Each participant will, however, participate in hands-on safe gun handling practical exercises.
